Todd Wellemeyer

Yeah, I know…it’s not really reveille when it goes off at 4pm.  Consider this the “sleeping in” version of the Reveille… —– Ryan Ludwick hits the shelf.  Todd Wellemeyer gets creamed.  Lineup still not hitting.  Cards and Pirates are on the verge of combustion during this series via the beanball. Am I missing something, or [...]

[Ed. note - While the usual suspect around here is on vacation, we've drummed up some great guest posters to take the reins and keep our loyal readers (all three of you) entertained.  Today's guest post is from Sherwood Farnham.  If you're not already following Sherwood on Twitter @Mstrdstr12, you should be.  It should be [...]

The Cards took two of three from the Wee Bears this weekend, continuing their strong play at home.  Sunday was a different story at Busch III unfortunately, but we’re choosing to stay on the postitve side regarding overall outcome of the series. A few quick hitters this morning, then we focus on the Braves: —– [...]

While searching through my favorite repository for MLB contract information, Cot’s Baseball Contracts, I came across a very valuable tool for Cardinal fans with an eye on the future and how the organization might be able to leverage their payroll. I was originally headed over to Cot’s to begin to compile a multi-year outlook on [...]

What an outing by Todd Wellemeyer last night.  Efficient, only 87 pitches through seven innings of work.  He scattered some hits, but only allowed one run – and most importantly – only one walk.  Gotta make Dave Duncan happy. This Cardinal staff is leading the National League in fewest walks allowed. —– Brian Barden got [...]

RIP Nick Adenhart.  The 22-year-old Angels pitcher passed away early this morning in a tragic hit-and-run accident in Fullerton, CA. The many news bureaus reporting on the accident this morning [LA Times] [ESPN] [NBC LA] [NBC Williamsburg] [More links at Baseball Musings] indicate that it was a three-car incident, caused by a minivan that ran [...]

Once again the United Cardinal Bloggers undertake a Roundtable project, a way to pass the time during Spring Training while waiting for Opening Day. We had the honor of leading off this time around, so here goes: In light of the way the free agent market has progressed, do you think the Cards jumped the [...]

[Ed. note - I've revised the post to re-order all of the charts, ranked by the column that is the "pertinent information".  I'm not sure why I didn't do that in the first place, but it was late when I originally posted, so forgive me.  Hopefully this makes the information even clearer.  Thanks for reading.] [...]

Rumors persist among Cardinal fans and scribes that Kyle McClellan is the logical fifth starter if Chris Carpenter can’t go because of persistent injury issues. I’ve gone on record here more than once as being opposed to this idea, and I haven’t changed my tune. As McClellan labored down the stretch, I wrote Save McClellan [...]

That is a question on many a Cards fan’s tongue as the season winds to a close. As Braden Looper prepares to take the mound tonight, in the Cardinals’ final series of this wildly entertaining (and similarly frustrating) season, it could be his final appearance wearing the Birds-on-the-Bat. It can be argued that Looper’s conversion [...]
