Nick

I got a late start on this one – joining MLB.tv in the top of the 2nd, Cardinals up 1-0 and Troy Glaus just got hit with a pitch… EDIT: Hey hey! Albert hit one out! Looks like he only needed a few innings off, not a whole game.

As a big, big Jimmy Edmonds fan, this news makes me sad. I’ll always remember the 2004 NLCS, Jim. Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, reports: Jim Edmonds’ tenure with the Padres lasted 26 games. The Padres plan to release the center fielder, whom they acquired last Dec. 15 from the Cardinals. An announcement is expected Friday. […]

Unleash Ryan Ludwick

by on May 9, 2008 · 0 comments

It’s time for Ryan Ludwick to get his shot to start full-time. Luddy just completed a 9-13 trip through Denver, tallying 3 home runs and 6 RBI in the process.  That’s good for a .693 batting average and an OPS of 2.282.  And yet he only started 3 of the 4 games out there. For […]

This isn’t Cardinals related in the least, but I just had to post it. Richie Sexson gets a pitch high, nowhere near him or his apparently empty head, and goes absolutely crazy and charges the mound. Enjoy. UPDATE: Sexson has been suspended 6 games and fined by MLB. I’d have kicked him out of the […]

Lots of news to talk about from yesterday while I was incommunicado: Matt Morris is hanging it up according to Rick Hummel at the Post-Dispatch. It’s a shame Matty couldn’t carry on, but I appreciate his candor in saying that it just was too stressful on him having to deal with failure. Morris was the […]

Sorry for no live game thread – had to go embarrass myself playing softball tonight. First things first – thank you Rick Ankiel. What is that, 7 times now he has had the “winning” RBI or “go-ahead” RBI? In this case it was well before anyone knew it would be a problem, but important home […]

No room for Mulder?

by on May 6, 2008 · 2 comments

Mark Mulder had another rough outing last night in what was supposed to be his second-to-last rehab start at Memphis. He gave up 7 runs in 6 innings, this after getting tagged for 9 runs in 3.2 innings in his previous start. This all begs the question – will he ever make it back? I’d […]

Soriano = Zito ?

by on May 5, 2008 · 5 comments

It’s time someone said it. Is Alfonso Soriano the Cubs’ very own version of Barry Zito? Clearly Soriano is struggling and he and his manager and teammates will attribute it to injury. But will he ever be the same hitter? Soriano sports a .222 OBP so far this season, with 3 HR and 13 total […]
