05.09.08 – Cardinals vs. Brewers

by on May 9, 2008 · 23 comments

I got a late start on this one – joining MLB.tv in the top of the 2nd, Cardinals up 1-0 and Troy Glaus just got hit with a pitch…

EDIT: Hey hey! Albert hit one out! Looks like he only needed a few innings off, not a whole game.

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.

Nice base hit by Ank – 2 on, no outs – great hustle by Glaus to get to 3rd.

Heh. The FSN Wisconsin announcers just said that “…like Ned Yost, Tony LaRussa batting the pitcher eighth…”

As if Ned is a pioneer…

Bah, should’ve had more there. Schu hits one on the nose but right at the Pillsbury Dough Boy ™.

Need Wellemeyer to throw strikes…

Excellent inning by Wellemeyer. I’m going to have to take back my comments about him going to the pen!

I’ve thought this for a long time, but haven’t had the outlet – Laz Diaz is one of the worst MLB umpires. Book it.

Glaus won’t come out for the bottom…here comes the Brendan Ryan show again.

Wellemeyer – looks good. No jinx.

From the Brewers’ telecast “…except for the walk, Parra has retired 7 in a row.”

Um, what? Walks don’t count now?

Holy Brendan Ryan. Yikes.

I don’t even know what to say about this.

I can only imagine what Brendan Ryan is thinking.

What in the blue hell is happening right now? I pray that Glaus is not out any extended period of time.

Kendall should be out too. If it is illegal for a fielder to throw his glove at a ball, it should be, likewise, illegal for a player to throw his bat at a pitch because the hit-and-run is on.

C’mon boys – we need to capitalize here.

Dangit – Molina needs to be on his horse there.

Why doesn’t Tony make a rule to have a guy up around the 6th inning or so with these “starters”?

Nice work by the middle of the order here with 2 outs.

Nice scoop Albert!

Miles at 3B – fascinating. And makes an out.

ANK! Strokes of Jimmy out there…

Isringhausen has to go.

Something has to be done.

I can’t even put my feelings into words.
