In my infinite boredom with the current state of the free agent market and the Cardinals’ participation in it, I have taken it upon myself to make some updates to the site here.
First, I have ditched the plugin I was using before to keep my Twitter posts on the sidebar. I’ve changed to a simpler, easier to use script that integrates into the site easier as well as allowing me to post replies to Twitter posts from other folks here on the site as well. I actually did this a bit ago, you may or may not have noticed already. The downside is that there won’t be any Redbird Tweet weekly posts. I would recommend signing up at Twitter and following me via that site – it’s actually pretty cool.
Second, I’ve put together an iPhone based skin for the site – you can see a screenshot below – that should load more quickly and it looks pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself.
iPhone users will see this mobile version of the site automatically, but can choose to view the actual site if they like via a link a the bottom of the main page by scrolling down.
Not sure how much these changes will actually make a difference, but I enjoy the tweaking and fine-tuning, so enjoy if you like!

Pretty!
Wish I had an iPhone!
Thanks Sarah! Now if only I had some free agency signings to show off on it!
Well, I’ve all but given up on the Cardinals signing ANYONE. I figure we have at least enough players so that we can fill up a lineup card and put a few on the field each inning, and beyond that what do you really need anyway? Right? Miles can be our fifth starter, then we just have to call up fifteen AAAers over the course of the season and presto! Everything’s fine.
Goold had a nice piece up today about the Looper situation and the state of the economy as relates to MLB. I think the Cards are waiting *just like everyone else* to see where the market is going to fall this off-season.
Players like Abreu, KRod, etc are all staring $8m per year in the face right now, when 6 months ago, you wouldn’t have sniffed them for less than $12m.
That’s totally understandable. I’d probably be upset if teams were throwing money around while the average fan was tightening his belt.
It’s also relieving to see that other teams are being just as slow to start.
But see, my plan was to use a little reverse psychology. I figured maybe if I threw in the towel–gave up on them making any moves–that subconsciously Moze would feel obligated to DO something. So far so good… 😉
It’s Miller time! One-year deal.
Call it in tonight on UCB radio. I think I’m going to make it to air. After that, I could use your call for co-host, and everyone else, for that matter.
Sarah – ask and you will receive. Trever Miller, one year, $2m. Hey, it’s a start. Now let’s get a starting pitcher on the cheap like Lohse last year.
Chet – I’ll try to sneak in some time on the show tonight. Thanks for the invite!
Sarah should call in to the radio show as well. The more the merrier.
It’s certainly a lot of fun. I look forward to having the shows during the season!
