Every year the members of the United Cardinal Bloggers (UCB) pause for a few moments to bestow honors and blah, blah, blah. Without any more of that ado that apparently there is much of for no reason, here is my UCB Awards ballot.
- Player of the Year – Yadier Molina. There can be only one, and it’s the guy who owns both an arm cannon and 2 Rawlings Platinum Glove Awards.
- Pitcher of the Year – Kyle Lohse. When healthy, Lohse proved that he could take the hill every 5th game and give the Cardinals a chance to win. Other guys were really good this year. Lohse was great.
- Game of the Year – NLDS Game 5.
- Performance of the Year – Chris Carpenter‘s five innings against Chicago. Carpenter, Chris. Minus a rib and some muscle tissue. Season ending….or not.
- Surprise Player of the Year – Lance Lynn. Lynn gave the Cardinals 176.0 innings with a 3.78 ERA. After pitching 34.2 innings in 2011 with 2 starts, he made a huge step up.
- Disappointing Player of the Year – Tyler Greene. So much promise and potential…so little actual value. Tempting to go with Marc Rzepczynski, but he really was a victim of regression as much as anything. Expectations were perhaps a little too high for Scrabble.
- Rookie of the Year – Joe Kelly.
- Acquisition of the Year – Carlos Beltran. Best season since 2008? Best season since 2008.
- Most Anticipated Cardinal – Kolten Wong.
- Best Individual Cardinal Blog – C70 at the Bat
- Best Team Cardinal Blog – StanGraphs
- Best Media Blog – Bird Land
- Best Rookie Cardinal Blog – StanGraphs
- Post of the Year – On Life, Love and Baseball
- Best UCB Project – UCB Weekend
- Most Optimistic Cardinal Blog – StanGraphs
- Best UCB Podcast – Conversations with C70
- Best UCB Twitterer – @CardinalTales

Cardinals fan since I could hold a fishing pole steady. Accidental blogger. Opinionated. I could care less about what you think of me. Constantly confounded, bemused, and confuzzled (ie I'm a pc and a mac). I'm an IT infrastructure analyst with a penchant for breaking tech toys. I ate a sabermetric primer for breakfast. I love playing "All-powerful GM of MLB". The 2010 Cardinals represented a good, practical definition "cognitive dissonance". The 2011 version got by on duct tape and a prayer, and I'm fine with that. They just need new tape for #12 in 12.
