On the morning of January 19th, I started collecting links – as many as I can find with minimal effort – that discuss the Albert Pujols contract discussions. Why? Who knows, yet here they are. Oh, and to serve you all, our three loyal readers! The Daily Pujols certainly won’t be a comprehensive list, but between local, national, and blog coverage, maybe you’ll find something here you otherwise wouldn’t. Without further delay, here is today’s Daily Pujols…
Local
Redbird Rants has just what I’ve been looking for regarding the Albert Pujols contract negotiations: Colin Cowherd (who also perpetuates the “Pujols told the Cardinals he won’t be traded” thing) weighing in!
B.J. Rains talks to a couple of players from the Cardinals who are interested in seeing a deal get done sooner than later. Not a huge surprise, but a worthwhile point of view that is worth exploring while there’s no news flowing from Pujols or the Cardinals on the situation.
National
I’m glad MLB Network could get Todd Zeile out of bed in time to make it to the set for this video. Comb your hair, Todd. I also think Harold Reynolds is craaaaaaaazy.
Blogs
Anna McDonald at The Hardball Times thinks that the Cardinals are holding more cards (see what I did there?) than many others see. She thinks that the Cards’ ability to assess value is an asset in these proceedings. An interesting viewpoint, to be sure. I want to agree with it, but I’m not sure how it works out to an “advantage” for the Cards – a level-headed might help the team’s performance one way or another, but I don’t know that it lends the team any value in terms of negotiating with Pujols. Worth a read, for certain.
Another “WHERE COULD HE GO?!?!” list at The Sports Jury.
Fake Teams? More like fake words. Please visit the aforementioned link for more folks reading words that do not exist. I’ve commented there to try and correct them, and they still don’t get it. You’ll understand when you get there.
New York State of Sports asks the question that is on every baseball fan’s mind (well, at least in New York) – “Albert Pujols to the Mets?”

Zeile freaked me! Jesus freaks who hang out in NYC salons? He looked absurd; yet he had cogent, interesting things to say. He referenced Pete Guerrero’s 1989 season effectively.
