Michael Wacha talks about learning from Cardinal veterans on TexAgs Radio

Michael Wacha was a guest on TexAgs Radio in late January, with fellow former Aggies Barret Loux and Brooks Raley, both members of the Chicago Cubs organization.

There’s obviously a lot of chatter about the latter two throughout the video, but Wacha gets his time to talk about going to Cardinals camp in Jupiter and what his experience was like as a first-year professional last season right out of the draft.

Check out the video after the jump.

If you’re most interested in Wacha talking about the Cardinals, skip to about 4:45 when he talks about going into big-league camp with the Cards and learning from the veteran pitchers. He goes on to talk about spring plans for being a starter at about 11:25, and continues to talk about learning the “Cardinal Way” (love that he knows it already, by the way), and how he figures he managed to achieve a 10 K/BB ratio in his short stint as a reliever in the Cards’ minor leagues last season.

Looking forward to seeing more of this guy in the coming season.

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.
