On the morning of January 19th, I started collecting links – as many as I can find with minimal effort – that discuss the Albert Pujols contract discussions. Why? Who knows, yet here they are. Oh, and to serve you all, our three loyal readers! The Daily Pujols certainly won’t be a comprehensive list, but between local, national, and blog coverage, maybe you’ll find something here you otherwise wouldn’t. Without further delay, here is today’s Daily Pujols…

Local

@JoeStrauss (via Twitter, see?) believes he has some good news for Cardinal fans. Well, maybe good news. You’ll have to read the Post-Dispatch to find out.

National

Phil Rogers has a bit in his column that outlines the Cards’ Spring Training offer to Pujols at nine years, $203 million. Am I the only one who is seeing that 203 number for the first time?

Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle thinks Miami is not, and will not be with Pujols, a baseball town. No word on whether or not that center-field home run motorized thing-y will make a difference in opinion.

As of today (TODAY!), people who can’t read The Atlantic is still re-reporting the 9/225 Marlins thing as an actual, factual offer. Le sigh.

At CBS New York, Zach Finkelstein

rates Pujols the second-best free agent on the market, behind Fielder. In the end, Finkelstein predicts what many others have… a return to the Gateway City.

Blogs

At his site Baseball Musings, David Pinto swiftly and concisely makes a great case for Pujols’ age being accurate. CASE CLOSED.

So far, a poll at Lookout Landing (Mariners) has that site’s readers voting to not sign Pujols or Prince Fielder.

Tomahawk Take looks back at 2004 Albert Pujols. Er, kind of. Video game Pujols. It’s still fun to watch.

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.
