Fool’s Friday: CBA = Crazy 11’s

Dennis did a much better job describing the fun earlier right here, so I get the easy job! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine getting to take part in something so cool as the CBA’s when this all started for me. I am blessed to get to work with a great pair of guys on a regular basis, and the entire UCB is awesome. Here’s to celebrating #11in11 on 11/11/11 and looking forward to an amazing 2012.

Join in on the fun and vote for your favorites as well!

Award 1: Cardinal Player of the Year

Yadier Molina is easily the best write-in candidate ever. The other three on the list deserve to be there, but I shudder to think where St. Louis would have ended up without his MVP performance down the stretch. Now show HIM the money!

Award 2: Cardinal Pitcher of the Year

Jason Motte by the hair on his Sutter 2.0 chin. He answered the bell in every round no matter the role, job title, or situation required. Clearly took his game to the next level, and it is very exciting to see what’s next for THE closer.

Award 3:  Regular Season Game of the Year

April 3 vs. the Padres. Garcia made us all believers that day, and the Honkin’ will continue for quite some time!

Award 4:  Post-Season Game of the Year

By far the toughest on the ballot to pick. For my two cents, I would watch the Carp vs. Roy battle in NLDS Game 5 every weekend or as needed! DarthCarp fears no one 😉

Award 5:  Surprise Player of the Year

David Freese. No one could have seen this coming, much less predicting that the bionic man would be PLAYING in October. What does the NLCS and WS MVP have for an encore?

Award 6:  Disappointing Player of the Year

Colby Rasmus. Change of scenery does not do this guy justice. I only hope he figures it out and realizes this game is fun.

Award 7:  Cardinal Rookie of the Year

Allen Craig. If you needed a runner-up in just about every above category, now picture what Wrench may do as a full-time player in 2012!

Award 8:  Pre-Season Acquisition of the Year

Lance Berkman probably deserves his own statue after proving the entire baseball world wrong. He turned down more money and years to get back in the outfield and truly did look like a kid out there!

Award 9:  Mid-Season Acquisition of the Year

Edwin Jackson couldn’t have asked for a better situation to land. He will be moving on, but the reward should include no-trade protection and a nice multiple year deal.

Award 10:  Most Anticipated Cardinal

Ryan Jackson. Maybe the only guy in the minors who gets a decent look next season. His stellar year peaked with a very nice run in the AFL, and a strong spring may make it hard to keep him off the 25-man roster.

Award 11:  Best Individual Blog

Stan Musial’s Stance. He goes out on top just like TLR.

Award 12:  Best Team Cardinal Blog

Cardinal Diamond Diaries. Top-notch coverage from the ladies is always a great read.

Award 13:  Best Professional Cardinal Blog

Cardinal Beat. I am spoiled and need my information quicker these days. This is one of the first places I click.

Award 14:  Best Rookie Cardinal Blog

Birds on the Bat 82. Great addition to the UCB family, a must add for the Twitter clan as well.

Award 15:  Post of the Year

I-70 Backyard Dreams. If you haven’t read it, find the time and check it out.

Award 16:  Best UCB Project

I am a sucker for the one we stole..um…borrowed from DG. Top 7 prospects by a nose.

Award 17:  Most Optimistic Cardinal Blog

Aaron Miles’ Fastball. Always a good read, and I check back regularly as should you.

Award 18:  Best UCB Podcast

UCB Radio Hour. Nothing like a Wednesday night to vent or just listen to how it all started!

Award 19:  Best UCB Twitterer

athooks hands down, no contest.

Award 20:  Best Fake Cardinal Twitter Account

Do it for Torty! Hard to pick a turtle for baseball, but I can always make an exception. tortycraig by far some of the greatest things to read during the playoffs. Helped keep the edge off!

Thank a Vet today and Go Cards!

Loyal to a fault, I was taught to never give up on your team. The Cardinals have much to look forward to in '13, and my family has already planned a number of trips to Springfield and even farther up the I-44. This year will start and end with #6, however, as St. Louis will have an extra fan watching from above - RIP Stan the Man
