Folks seemed to appreciate having the Letterman and Leno clips here yesterday, I figured I’d put up the video of David Freese making the rounds, this time appearing with Ellen DeGeneres.
Turns out, his visit there was part of a larger story that’s been going on between Ellen and some local Cardinals fans. (I’m admittedly not an Ellen watcher, am I the only one who’s missed this whole thing?)
Sarah Ruffatto had mailed DeGeneres asking her to call 101 ESPN as part of their recent contest to have a celebrity call in to win World Series tickets.
So Ellen was too late to win the 101 contest, prompting her to send Sarah and her boyfriend to the game on her own, with what I can only assume were much better tickets than the radio contest was offering:
So, VIP access to Game Six, get engaged, ho hum. Which part do you think leads the story they tell friends and family?
Finally, Ellen had the couple on the show and surprised them with Freese’s appearance, World Series MVP trophy in tow.
Cool story. But when it comes to the 2011 Cardinals these days, aren’t they all?

When are you unveiling the “Freakin’ for Freese” shirts?
I missed this appearance yesterday, thanks for sharing the spot and the back story. Good stuff!
Hrmm, I’ll have to get my graphics guru on it. Thanks Bill.
I was hoping for “Deep Freese” shirts, actually.
Also, I’ve now seen approximately 7 minutes more of the Ellen Show than I ever expected to see in my lifetime.
I don’t know whether to say you’re welcome or sorry?
This was great. Thank you so much for posting all of this.
Happy to do it, glad you enjoyed it.
What’s crazier? Freese coming out to see the fans, or that Ellen still uses a land line?
Crazy!
Looks like a prop to me, but I’ll go with land line phone.
