The Pujols Contract Irregular – 03.20.2011

by on March 20, 2011 · 0 comments

On the morning of January 19th, I started collecting links – as many as I can find with minimal effort – that discuss the Albert Pujols contract discussions. Why? Who knows, yet here they are. Oh, and to serve you all, our three loyal readers! The Daily Pujols certainly won’t be a comprehensive list, but between local, national, and blog coverage, maybe you’ll find something here you otherwise wouldn’t. Without further delay, here is today’s Daily Weekly Irregular Pujols…

So in the beginning (prior to Spring Training) it was easy to come up with enough links to fill a Daily Pujols.  Then I thought it might be wise/easy to scale it back to a Weekly Pujols.  Now that it’s been almost two weeks since that WP post, and I only have a handful of links, I’m thinking this will be more haphazard than I’d like.  Weird.  Perhaps the chatter will increase as Albert Pujols starts to visit other cities and those teams that will woo him after 2011, but for now, his cone of silence appears to be widespread.

That said, here are some links:

The Post-Dispatch asks if Pujols could push his contract number even higher if he has a “walk year bounce” in statistics.

This was bound to be asked, right?  I can confidently say now, that yes it was – but that’s self-effacing, right?

More of the “ego,” “doesn’t need the money,” “he should take a hometown discount”-type chatter at PressBox.

Have more Pujols links to share? Post them in the comments below!

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.
