Jeff Lung at Red State Blue State puts things in perspective for us all. “Erin Andrews isn’t going to sit on my lap. Lucy Liu isn’t going to give me a full body massage (with a whip). And Albert Pujols might not be a Cardinal forever.”

Matthew Osborne at The Trentonian says that losing Albert Pujols would “relieve [the Cards] of their status as a contender.” He also floats a Pujols for Ryan Howard trade, with a Phillies extension for Pujols being part of the deal.
The Sporting News’ Stan McNeal offers some “consensus opinions” that also “may or may not be true.” I love this game.
Tim Brown at Yahoo! Sports has a quote from Tony La Russa – “Albert will be Albert.” Thanks for that deep insight, skipper.
Also at Yahoo! Steve Henson believes the Cards are holding back, not improving the team as much as they could, in limbo waiting to find out whether they will be paying Pujols his billions or not.
Angels MLB.com beat reporter Lyle Spencer says in a mailbag post that the chances of signing Pujols are not “impossible — but it’s close to that.”
ESPN.com reports that Pujols will show up to camp on February 16th, making that the deadline for a contract to get done. Had you all heard about that yet? If not, make sure you give me credit for finding the story, ok?
Scott Miller at CBS Sports thinks a deal will eventually get done, after taking a serious toll on John Mozeliak. Just like the Holliday deal…
