Nick: Tim Raines led the National League in stolen bases four times. He is currently ranked fifth all-time in stolen bases.
Raines also ranks 50th all-time with 1571 runs scored. His 1636 career runs created rank 53rd all-time.
“Rock” was a prototypical lead-off hitter for many years – he compares favorably to Hall of Famer and former Cardinal Lou Brock.
During his time, it could be argued that Raines was right behind Rickey Henderson in the top lead-off man list.
I’ll give Raines my vote.
Josh: Welcome to the ‘Rock’…
Of course Tim Raines has to be thought of in the same sentence as Ricky and Lou when it comes to lead-off men. That this guy would have to wait multiple tries to get in the HOF is very strange, and I’m all for another Expo to join Dawson for 2010.

With all the support that Raines seems to have in the greater baseball community, who is NOT voting for this guy that is keeping him out of the Hall of Fame?

i want the Rock in. This guy was phenomenal. I don’t know why this guy doesn’t get more love.
I don’t like to focus on one day or one game but I always loved this.

Mind you, he had sat out the first month (didn’t go to spring training either) with a contract dispute.
Luckily, Raines had lots of good games to make his career worthy of HOF induction. 😉
That was a doozy though…
