BBA HoF Ballot Discussion: Jack Morris

Jack Morris

Nick: Jack Morris doesn’t pass the sniff test for me.

He was good, but folks hedge on Bert Blyleven but then gush over Morris?

I’m sorry folks, a 10-inning playoff shutout start does not make you a Hall of Famer. Bud Smith threw a no-hitter once too.

Morris doesn’t stack up for me by initial reaction nor upon a look at his statistics. He certainly belongs in the Hall of Very Good – but he’s not elite.

What say you, Josh?

Josh: Jack Morris may be the easiest call of the group for me. I also have a hard time believing all the love for him, but that just goes to show how much stock everyone puts in the playoffs. The Michael Jordan of baseball he is not, but Morris will always benefit from the 4 World Series rings he can show off!

No to the Hall this time around for sure.

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.
