06.05.08 – Cardinals vs. Nationals (again)

by on June 5, 2008 · 18 comments

I haven’t done a game post in a while.

Will this be the game when someone finally joins in with me while I rant on in the comments about the progress of the game?!?!

Stay tuned!

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.

Look at Tony sending these guys off to the races.

Tonyball!

Why in the hell is Kennedy hitting third?

Criminy – is this a getaway day lineup, or what?

Luddy looked bad in that at-bat … need to get that guy going again.

Santa is hot – keep it up kid.

Is it just me, or did it look like that ball should’ve been caught?

Dukes was surely a sitting duck if Schu had hit the cut-off man.

Ok – maybe it’s jut Parisi. What the hell?

Tony putting Parisi out there as a sacrificial lamb.

*sigh*

Goodness Troy Glaus is hot – would’ve been better if Adam Kennedy wasn’t a moron. But alas – we’ll take a run.

Horrible game to watch.

On the other hand, I’ve heard that Kevin Youkilis and Manny Ramirez are throwing punches at each other in the Red Sox bullpen.

So it could be worse. :)

C’mon boys – make it close. Make it worth watching.

Mark Worrell! Welcome to the bigs kid!

Great swing by the recently recalled reliever.

5 RBI so far from the Cards pitchers.

Just a few more runs boys – I am impressed with what the bullpen has done tonight after being run ragged by TLR in the afternoon game.

I really can’t believe this. I can’t determine if the Cards are this good – and showing their determination/refusal to lose – or if the Nats are just that bad.

Either way – it’s providing for exciting baseball!

C’mon T-Roy.

Joey Bombs!

Gosh dangit – if the Cards don’t pull this out, I will be upset.

This could be the game that makes their season, IMO.

See above – this might make their season a total exercise in frustration.

UGH! Still can’t get over this one.

As successful as he’s been – Franklin is better suited in the 8th inning role, less pressure – IMO.

Perez needs to start the final inning every time with Franklin or McClellan warming up behind him, ready to come in at a moments notice. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing McClellan close ala Wainright in ’06. Franklin is not a closer.

Heartbreaker. Joey bombs is impressive though. I’ve been singing this kids praises since he turned the corner in Springfield. As soon as Duncan shows the least bit of regaining his skill set and puts it on display, we need to trade him.

I don’t necessarily have a huge problem with Franklin closing, because he’s been relatively successful in that role – I just think they need to watch him closely. Viva El Birdos ran a post about closers not having that role in their first year – the stats were kind of eye-opening.

I can see Perez being handed that role full-time next season for sure.
