Jimmy Baseball to sign with Cubs

by on May 14, 2008 · 0 comments

It’s been rumored for days, but Jim Edmonds’ signing with the Cubs is seemingly imminent upon passing a physical, according to ESPN.

Despite it being the Cubs, I will root for Jimmy to do well (as long as they aren’t playing the Cardinals). He’s just one of those former ‘Birds who holds a special place in my heart. He always goes/went out with the reckless abandonment of a Little Leaguer trying to impress his dad, something I’ve always admired in Jim.

Injuries have slowed the center fielder, but he fits a need for the Cubs. Here’s hoping he can finish out in class and style.

Writing about the Cardinals and other loosely associated topics since 2008, I've grown tired of the April run-out only to disappoint Cardinal fans everywhere by mid-May. I do not believe in surrendering free outs.
